Based on true events, this is the story of the tragedy that struck Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and the rest of the world, in 1986. The bus carrying the Swift Current Broncos hockey team lost control on the ice, killing four of the young players. The film covers the lives of the players, their families and the town, and the lead-up to the crash. The story is juxtaposed with the present-day meeting of Brian Costello, the junior reporter who survived the crash, and Kari Kessler, the girlfriend of one of the players lost that day. It’s an important story of heartbreak and loss and the bonds built amidst surviving both as a team and the small-town impacted by the event.
